D and I visited several interesting places this Open Monument Day. First, we went to an old farm which was converted into a youth training atelier. Our next destination was a villa in Kortrijk, where the history was made very interesting by an enthusiastic guide. Within walking distance of the villa is a hidden garden with a tree of heart shaped leaves, an old well and a large ice cellar. Not far from this garden is a restored merry-go-round. After that, we tried to visit another villa in Waregem and a castle in Kruishoutem. These were not possible for the line was too long at the villa and the castle was closed early. These two locations were on the national news earlier. So, this was to be expected. I am not too disappointed though. It has been a lovely Sunday afternoon.
